From May 1, 2025, every liter of A-95 gasoline must contain 5% bioethanol

This requirement was approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in June 2024. It applies exclusively to this type of gasoline; biodiesel was originally part of the project but is not mentioned in the final document.

Taras Mykolayenko, who has championed the use of bioethanol from the very beginning, has served as the director of the Association of Bioethanol Producers for over a decade. According to him, this 5% blend will not significantly impact the market but is an important step in supporting the industry. A 5% bioethanol blend equates to only 80 thousand tons of bioethanol, which translates to less than 1 million tons of corn as raw material.

At the same time, Taras believes this law will serve as a safety net for bioethanol producers and is confident it will encourage every oil company to establish its own bioethanol production facilities.
